Abstract

For six decades, the Feria de Muestras de Asturias has promoted a great amount of symbolic images. This important commercial competition was officialized in 1924, but has also been interrupted as a result of various political and economic upsets. In spite of these circumstances a well-nourished imaginary emerged, sheltered by the Chamber of Commerce of Gijon and, above all, the fair event. Corporate posters and letterheads provide a coherent iconographic narration, also linked to the evolution of typographical, lithographic, offset and digital printing techniques that influence his aesthetics. Undoubtedly, this visual discourse is also enriched with the procedures of creation and printing. Our research tries to put in value these smart creations, which their artistic syntax relies in the design, the publicity and in the means of reproduction.
