Resumen

The calcite mylonites at the base o f the southern Urals accretionary prism present a high density of mechanical twins and dynamical recrystallized grains. Crain size and shape analysis of some calcmylonites were used to estimate palaeostress values, which are ranging between 135 and 229 MPa. Since palaeostress based on recristallized grain size are lower than palaeostress obtained previously by twin density (230±40 MPa), the methods constrains are discussed and results are interpreted in accordance with the domain o f different calcite mechanisms during deformation. Both results are consistent with the hypothesis that the recrystallized grains sizes are limited by the twinning field boundary in the deformation mechanism map.
