Abstract

The distribution of the leguminosae species of the tract of River Narcea (Asturias, Spain) and its relation with the soil pH have been studied in 166 samples. The pH range of goes from 3,90 to 8,02. Technkmes of elaboration of frequency histograms and criteria of forming groups of species of similar ecological profiles respect to the considered factor are applied. The histograms of the different species have been made and commented. It may be pointed out that some of the more frequent sipecies, Medicago lupulina, Anthyllis vulneraria and Trifolium campestre, show high affinity for alkaline soils. The other more important and frequent species, Trifolium pratense, T. repens, Lotus cornkulatus, Vicia sativa, T. dubiwm and V. hirsuta, have a range of total variation although all of them lower their frequencies io very acid soils.
