Abstract

The structure and microstructure of the Chimparra Gneiss in the Tarroiba cliff (Cabo Ortegal Complex) has been studied. An anostomosing geometry is defined in these rocks by blastomylonitic foliation bands surrounding lenticular bodies of gneisses whit glandular texture and minor deformation. A planar and homogeneous gneisses found in the lower part of the succession. Textural changes between all these rocks were reequilibrated under amphibolite facies metamorphism. The microstructural and the macrostuctural analysis reveals that deformation was mainly non-rotational during the developement of the blastomylonic foliation.
