Abstract

A search for dark matter produced in association with a Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at the LHC is presented. A total amount of 35.9 fb-1 of data, collected by the CMS experiment during 2016, have been used. The search takes two simplified models, a Z’-2HDM model and a Baryonic Z’ model, as reference. Multivariate analysis techniques have been employed to enhance the significance of the signal over the main backgrounds. These are estimated using data or through dedicated simulations, corrected using data whenever possible. Several sources of systematic uncertainties, theoretical and experimental, have been taken into account, however the results are dominated by the statistical uncertainty due to the low number of events observed. No significant discrepancies are observed between data and the Standard Model prediction (background-only hypotesis), such that they are interpreted as upper limits on the dark matter production cross-section at the LHC.
