Abstract
Maritime transport contributes significantly to air pollution and the emission of greenhouse gases. Polluting emissions from energy installations of ships, affect the air quality of port cities and coastal areas. This paper has developed a study to estimate emissions produced by shipping in the port of Santander in 2014, making a comparative analysis of activity-based methodologies. The comprehensive analysis of the population has allowed the quantification of the total value of emissions by type of pollutant for each operating segment with static geographically referencing emission sources, carbon footprint of shipping, development of a comparative study regarding emission sources of regional industrial pollutants, energy labeling of marine auxiliary energy system in port, GHG emission reduction with use of cold-ironing system and statistical indicators to estimate population parameters in the absence of empirical data.
