Evaluación de necesidades de jóvenes en acogimiento residencial en Portugal

Resumen

El acogimiento residencial en Portugal es la medida de protección más común en los casos de separación familiar, ya que el acogimiento en familia todavía es muy escaso. Sin embargo, poco se sabe sobre las necesidades de estos niños, niñas y jóvenes. Este estudio tiene como objetivo describir el perfil de adolescentes cercanos a la mayoría de edad que se encuentran en acogimiento residencial, realizando una comparación con una muestra española. La muestra está compuesta por 345 jóvenes de 16 a 17 años, de ambos sexos, sobre los que se ha recogido información relativa al historial de protección, antecedentes familiares, escolaridad, salud mental y conductas infractoras. Para establecer una comparación, se tomó una muestra española con las mismas edades (N = 384). Los resultados revelan la complejidad y especial gravedad del perfil de la muestra de jóvenes en acogimiento residencial en Portugal comparado con una muestra española, destacando una alta presencia de problemas de salud mental y sobre todo de conductas autolíticas. De acuerdo con estos resultados, los esfuerzos deben dirigirse hacia el desarrollo de programas de atención residencial especializados adaptados a las necesidades específicas de esta población.
