Deshumanización e islamofobiaactitudes ante la crisis de los refugiados sirios

Resumen

La deshumanización de ciertos exogrupos se manifiesta en la deslegitimación del otro y genera exclusión, máxime en condiciones percibidas como potencialmente amenazantes. El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar la imagen que percibe un colectivo de jóvenes de entre 15 y 18 años (n = 205) y de personas mayores de 60 años (n = 117) sobre la población musulmana y los refugiados sirios. Para ello, se aplicaron escalas de deshumanización, racismo moderno e islamofobia y se analizaron las dife-rencias en función de ciertas variables como la edad o el grado de religiosidad percibida. Los resultados muestran que existen diferencias significativas en función del nivel de edad tanto en deshumanización como en racismo e islamofobia. La deshumanización tanto de los musulmanes como de los refugiados sirios está presente en todos los niveles, constituyendo la percepción de amenaza un factor de interés. La religiosidad representa una variable significativa en el estudio del racismo moderno y la islamofobia, si bien no es así en la deshumanización. Se discuten las implicaciones psicosociales de tales hallazgos.
