Resumo
We study the evolution of 34 eyes with ma cular degeneration (geographic atrophy of the age-related macular degeneration) in 18 patients (13 women and 5 men) for a period a 2 and 4 years (media 3.1 years) ages betweer 60 and 88 years old (media age 73 years) The atrophic areas evolved to: 1) atroph: of the pigment epithelium followed by choria capillaris atrophy; 2) leveling of soft druser and 3) extension to the fovea resulting in a diminution of visual acuity that was slow and progressive and quicker in people under 75 years old.
