Résumé

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) assesses the knowledge and skills acquired by the students during obligatory education near it’s finish and what is needed to engage in a knowledge society. The lastest PISA study (2009) places Spanish students at the bottom of Europe in areas such as reading. Concerns about the results seen in this report, we raised for a new line of research that has assessed the level of general knowledge of new university students from different universities around the country. 1080 students from the universities of Oviedo, La Laguna and Granada were studied. To carry out the study, we applied an ad hoc test for this research, which addresses current issues, language, literature, geography, history and philosophy. The psychometric analysis conducted the differences between different disciplines in each groups of items as well as differences by gender and universities.
