Nowadays ICTs are increasingly affecting the way in which students carry out their duties. Therefore, instructors should take advantage of these technologies in order to improve learning and teaching process. This paper shows the results of a study about our students’ behaviour in the fulfilment of working assignments and how their performance could be improved. It is certainly of paramount importance to gain knowledge about students´ behaviour patterns. The results are consistent with those obtained by previous works. However, our work goes a step further taking into account three additional factors. Firstly, we consider which are the students’ preferences to select a digital tool in order to get their assignment done. Secondly, we enquire into motivations to make their choice. Lastly, we evaluate the impact that assignment's contents exposure has over the tool selection
