Resum

Objetive: to evaluate the morphology of three different brands of periodontal curettes, and compare them with the stablished morphological quality standards. Material and methods: we evaluated with a micrometer three different parameters: a) width, b) thickness and c) length of the working ends. We studied the «5» end of 10 5/6R Gracey periodontal curettes and the «4R» of 10 4R/4L Columbia curettes from each one of the manufacturers: Hu-Friedy®, LM Dental® and Nordent®, being 60 working ends in total which will be named with the initials of the brand followed by the type of curette. Statistical method: Descriptive statistics: Mean; Typical desviation; Standard error. Analitical Statistics: non-parametrical test of Kruskal-Wallis. Results and conclusions: The three different brands presented significant differences (p<0.005) in the three evaluated parameters. LM having the biggest differences, compared to the other two brands, and HF the ones which best achieved the morphologic standards.
