Abstract
School failure is one of the most serious problems in Spanish Educational System and it worries very much in our country. It is said that the reasons of school failure are intrinsic, but also extrinsic reasons are becoming important nowadays. Some of these reasons are the family and the context in which students grow up. Family structure, social class and family environment might influence the students school performance. Many researches show strong relation between parental involvement and school success. Nevertheless, parental involvement is not the same in every family and is also different depending on childrens age and sex. There are also differences between the needs of involvement that parents perceive. The purpose of this review is to show how important parental involvement is in students academic performance as well as to show different ways of parental involvement and possible effects of involvement in school achievement
