Abstract
The Spanish educative law (LOE) links communicative competence with the objectives of the CEFR, a framework aimed to develop a plurilingual and pluricultural competency. In the present work, I assume this new paradigm to deal with the teaching/learning of idioms in the foreign language classroom from a �plural focus�. I present an analysis of cross-linguistic coincidences in the configuration of images, as pointed out by cognitive semantics. The suitability of this analysis as a learning strategy is highlighted.
