Abstract
Franchising is a way of cooperation that helps firms to grow in geographical terms and also vertically. This paper analyzes the factors that drive growth of franchising chains and how they choose their degree of vertical integration and try to stabilize it. A simulation model is used for the case of a restaurant chain.
