Abstract
With a stagnant power demand at the regional level, and while the remaining mines – the main local suppliers of raw materials – are being closed, over the next few years Asturias projects the construction of new infrastructures for the generation and transport of energy, even further increasing power production, which already surpasses regional needs. The region will thus become a kind of ‘surrogate mother’ specialising in the production, with imported raw materials, of electricity for exportation
