Abstract

The data opening allows citizens to access and use information of public interest free of charge. From this context, this work analyzes the Colombian government’s open data quality criteria and metrics to identify opportunities for improving the government’s ability to provide data of uniform quality for reuse and exploitation, applying the four phases of the TDQM or total data quality management methodology: define, measure, analyze and improve to the Colombian natural forest surface data set. As a main result of this study it is evident that a structured data quality management allows the establishment and decision making to increase the quality level of open data and for the users to determine their relevance to the intended use.
