Abstract
In spite of their great potential, carbon xerogels are not produced at industrial scale due to the long and tedious traditional production processes. The objective was to develop a new synthesis method for scaling-up carbon xerogels production, without losing the control of their final properties and the possibility to tailor these carbon materials for each application. In this work a new production process is introduced with a remarkable reduction of the time required (>75%), and using a unique device, being a breakthrough for the industrial production of carbon xerogels. In this work, a series of possible and very different applications are presented, like a material for hydrogen storage, as active material in supercapacitors or as filler in gas separation columns, showing the great versatility of these materials.
